BJSHS student works with a preschool student on a Thanksgiving project

There's no doubt about it- some of the most popular lessons at Blackford County Schools take place with our older students teaching our younger students. They might be reading to them or helping with a class assignment or project.

This past week, students in Mrs. Sasha Hudson's Child Development class at BJSHS spent time with our BPS preschool students. They planned a lesson/activity around Thanksgiving and then went into the classroom to deliver it to the students. Along with assisting the preschoolers with their project, they were playing and having fun!

Mrs. Hudson appreciated the efforts her students made to make the lesson a success. "The students have done all the work from planning the activity to picking up materials for the project."

She added, "I had a couple of students who considered becoming preschool teachers. This lesson might help them make their decision."

For the high school students who do not plan to enter teaching, the activity provides them with a service credit on their pathway to graduation.

The preschoolers enjoyed spending time with the older students, and as you can see from the photos, were more than happy to display their art projects!

BJSHS students taking part in the Preschool lesson included: Haylie Arnold, Keyomi Campbell, Hailey Clayman, Madeleine Davidson, Rylee Dunica, Emily Ellison, Caitlyn Galuszek, Anabelle Helms, Rowan Hollin, Katie Lytle, Maleah Marker, Destany Matura, and Adarius Wingo.
