Blackford County Schools will revise its mask policy to meet the requirements announced by Governor Holcomb on July 22, 2020. The policy that Governor Holcomb shared stated:
Masks will be required of any person 8 years old or older in indoor public spaces (school buildings), commercial entities, transportation services and outdoor areas where social distancing is not possible.
Mask use in schools will be required for students in 3rd grade and up. The mask requirement will apply for faculty and staff, volunteers and anyone else in the schools.
Masks will also be required for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, as well as on the school bus.
Exemptions will be made for the following:
Medical purposes
Strenuous physical activity
Eating and drinking
(BCS will provide further guidance soon regarding the procedures for a medical exemption and what constitutes strenuous physical activity.)
Masks are strongly recommended, but not required for children 2 to 7 years old.
BCS will provide two masks to all students and staff members. A supply of disposable masks will also be available for students and staff as needed. Additional masks are available for purchase on the BCS Website or at https://blackfordfacemask.itemorder.com/.
BCS always has the safety of our students, staff and community at the forefront of our priorities. The new mask requirements that will be put in place by Governor Holcomb will further assist us in being able to provide the safest environment possible.
