The BJSHS Health Careers classes, under the director of Mrs. Yvette Rouch, were selected from all of the AHEC partners across our 17-county region (hospitals, clinics, universities, school districts, non-profit organizations, etc.) for the 2022 Partnership Matters Award. The Health Careers class was chosen due to their motivation and desire to be successful in both their past and current grant projects.
Each year, the Health Careers students are responsible for finding a need in their school, then writing and submitting a grant proposal to obtain funding to support their cause. They are then primarily responsible for maintaining their project. Past grants have included water bottle filling stations, salad bar, and a healthier alternative vending machine. This year's grant was for the Bear Necessities' cabinets. These cabinets are available to all students at BJSHS, in which school supplies and hygiene products are provided to students at no cost. These supplies were initially purchased with grant money and will be sustained through donations.
Great job to these students who work to make a difference in our school and district!
