ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

At BJSHS, we empower our students with the tools and knowledge required to succeed beyond high school. We are pleased to offer dual credit and honors options to help them achieve their goals—wherever they may lead.

CURRICULUM (7TH–12TH GRADES)

Our students receive instruction in core areas and the related arts, including:

  • Language Arts

  • Mathematics

  • Science

  • Social Studies

  • Physical Education

  • Music (band and choir)

PROGRAMS (7TH–12TH GRADES)

In addition to our regular curriculum, our students receive unique learning opportunities through the following programs:

  • PEAK period - Homeroom time for extra study, ELA, and math intervention for the ISTEP.

  • Preparing for College and Careers - A required preparation class for all eighth graders

SPECIAL EDUCATION (7TH–12TH GRADES)

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires schools to provide accessible instructional materials (AIM) to students who are blind/low vision, have a physical limitation, or have a diagnosed print disability. As part of Blackford County Schools’ mission to provide quality education to all students, we are pleased to provide resources that will further explain what AIM is and how it can benefit students.

MORE OPPORTUNITIES (7TH–12TH GRADES)

We believe in strong academic programs, but we also encourage our students to participate in extracurricular activities. Please visit these pages to learn more.

DUAL CREDIT COURSES (9TH–12TH GRADES)

Dual credit allows students to earn both high school and college credits simultaneously. Students may participate in dual credit courses taught by high school faculty at BHS, college faculty at the college or university, or sometimes through online courses or distance education. Please refer to the course descriptions catalog for a comprehensive listing of dual credit options for BHS students.
