A couple of reminders for this Wednesday, July 31:
We are updating the phone system here today. If you are having trouble getting through, please be patient and try later... or even tomorrow. Hopefully, we will have everything "dialed in" by then!
Also, for those with questions about Transportation, check your student's Skyward bus assignment first. We do not always see every question on social media. If you don't find the Transportation/Busing information, please reach out.
Lastly, if you have not registered your student for school, you can do that in-person at their school or online here:
https://www.blackfordschools.org/o/bcs/page/registration-and-immunizations
We can't wait to see our Bruins Back in Blackford on August 7!
Attention, attention! BCS will be conducting telephone line improvements today and some phone services may be interrupted. Thank you in advance for your patience!
It's getting real, Bruins!

If you have not, you can find the Registration Information here: https://www.blackfordschools.org/o/bcs/page/registration-and-immunizations
We need EVERYONE to:
• Double-check the Free and Reduced Lunch/Textbook Form
Even though curricular (textbook) fees and lunch fees are free for the 2024-2025 school year, the state of Indiana still requires BCS to collect Free and Reduced information. If your household DOES NOT qualify for Free and Reduced BENEFITS, please check the box and continue the Registration Form. If your household DOES qualify for Free and Reduced benefits, please be sure to complete the entire form before moving on to the rest of BCS Registration.
If you have completed the Free and Reduced Form and have questions, you can return to the form in your student’s Registration, edit it and resubmit.
Questions? Contact your student’s school or call 765.348.7550.
Lastly, don't forget that In-Person Registration is underway TODAY at BJSHS until 6 p.m.

Meet Garry May, the new Athletic Director at Blackford Jr.-Sr. High School.
May comes to Blackford County Schools via Hamilton Community Schools in northern Indiana, where he served as Athletic Director/Dean of Students and
Transportation Coordinator.
A “sports guy” by trade, May obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Administration Marketing and Management from Ball State University, and a Master of Education in Athletic Administration from Goucher College in Maryland.
During his own sports career, May was an avid runner in high school and at the collegiate level. He coached both cross country and soccer before becoming an Athletic Director.
"Garry has a strong background in athletics at the high school and Division 1 level, and he distinguished himself in the interview process,” says BCS Superintendent Chad Yencer. “His organization and communication skills were praised by previous administrators. We are excited to have Garry join the BCS team.”
May echoes Yencer’s excitement and plans to hit the ground running.
"My family and I are thrilled to become part of the Blackford Bruin community as the new Athletic Director. The individuals I've encountered so far have truly impressed me, and I'm eager to meet many more in the coming months. I'm excited to align my philosophy with the BCS core values of Connect, Influence, and Achieve.”
May adds, “A big thank you to the BCS administration and school board for this incredible opportunity. Go Bruins!”
May is currently house-hunting in the area. He hopes that he and his wife, Vicki, and their son, Landon, 5, will be able to move a little closer to Bruin Country.
Welcome, Mr. May!

"We are happy to welcome Aaron Murphy to BJSHS,” says Principal Jason Ridge. “Our committee was impressed with his vision for the girls basketball program and his trek to get to us. His focus on growth and leadership, building relationships and his ability to lead a high quality program really stood out.
